Story of Missy

DOB: 1 Sept 2006
AHA: 19 Jul 2018
RIP: 14 Feb 2019

We came to know about Missy when her rescuers call for help after running out of funds to pay for her boarding.

She had kidney failure and was thought to be blind. As a last resort, they will be forced to release Missy onto the street. Given her condition, it is extremely unlikely she will survive for long without medical attention.

After discussing with her rescuers, we decided to adopt Missy so that we can continue to give her the medical attention she needs.
At the vet, she did not seem to be blind or visually impaired.

However, Missy was tested positive for Felv so she needs to be separated from the other cats to prevent the spread of Felv.

Missy has a home

When Missy came to us, she had a room to herself. As she settled down, it was clear she was not blind. She needs subcut every other day and we give her supplements to reduce the work load on her kidneys to boost her immune system.

Although there is no treatment for Felv, we gave her a clean place, good quality food and lots of love and to care for her to the end.

She even had the first birthday card in her life!

Drama

Missy’s rescue has been full of surprises. After we took Missy back, a new drama unfolded.

One of Missy’s rescuer had a food sponsor. She demanded that the rescuer put Missy to sleep i.e. kill Missy. Failure to comply meant the end of the food sponsorship. The feeder refused and her food sponsorship ended.

We knew about this drama after we adopted Missy. The feeder should not be penalised for saving lifes so we set up a food donation page for her.

We salute the rescuer who chose to respect life instead of sacrificing Missy in return for food donation.

Animal rescue is demanding work. Lives can be changed and affected, and we believe it is important that we respect life even if it means a lot of work, resource to care for a dying cat.
That is what love is all about
